The assassin entered the Prophet's Mosque...
With a dagger in his hand, he crept towards the congregation.
It was Fajr. 'Umar ibn al-Khattab stood to lead the worshipers in prayer.
"Allahu Akbar!"
The prayer began.
In one swift moment, the assassin charged towards 'Umar stabbing him in the stomach - again and again.
The believers rushed to capture him as the righteous Caliph bled from his wounds.
Someone called out...
"As-salah, ya amir al-mu'mineen! (The prayer, O leader of the believers!)".
"Yes, truly," 'Umar replied. "If anyone misses prayer, he has no share in Islam".
Then, the wounded Caliph completed the prayer. He would die shortly after.
What, then, is more important than Prayer?
It is the most important act of worship. The first thing a servant will be asked about on the Last Day.
And it will be the last thing taken from this religion.
